Your Showtimes Email

I joined the email club a long time ago and I haven't received any emails, why?
Most likely the email address we have in the system is incorrect. By joining the Newsletter Club again, with the correct email address, you can fix that problem. When you join The Newsletter Club, you will receive a confirmation regarding your enrollment within five minutes. If you don't receive that confirmation, and you are certain that the email address is correct, then it is possible that you or your Internet Service Provider has SPAM filters that are blocking the email you want to receive. This may also be a problem, even if you did receive the confirmation email. Please see the FAQ "I think my spam filter is blocking my email, what do I do to fix that?" for more information regarding SPAM filters.

The email looks like a bunch of hieroglyphics, how do I fix it?

Email Coupons

How do I print my email coupon?
When you receive your email, there will be a graphic image or a button on the email that will represent the coupon. Click on that image or button and you will be presented with a webpage with the coupon. You must then press the button under the coupon and your computer should then present you with a window that allows you to select the printer you want to print your coupon to. Select the printer, and press the print button. Provided that your printer is configured and working properly, your coupon will print.

When I click on the link to view and print the coupon in my email, nothing happens, why?
It's likely that your email software (LOTUS NOTES, AOL 6.0 and below, etc.) needs to be updated. Check with the company who makes your email software to see if they have a more recent version of the email software. Most likely, they will allow you to download a new version online. If they don't have a newer version, it's probably a good idea to find another email software program, as you are certainly missing out on much more than just this Newsletter Club. Some of the older email software does not handle email hyperlinks, and will not allow you to click on links in your email. Additionally, the older email readers will do not support graphical emails. So, not only can you not click on the link, but you will not be able to see any of the graphic rich information that the Newsletter Club delivers. We recommend that you use Microsoft's product, Outlook Express. You can download the latest version of Outlook Express and Internet Explorer (a web browser) at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/critical/ie6sp1/default.asp. Make sure you consult your Internet Service Provider when installing this software, as there are some specific configuration settings that you must acquire from them to make this software work. Additionally, if you use windows, be sure to update your operating system as often as possible, not just for the Newsletter Club, but so you can have all of the latest security updates and advancements, to ensure the most successful operation of your computer.

I deleted my email coupon, how can I get another one?
First check your deleted email folder to see if you can find the deleted email. If you find it, you can access it from your deleted email folder, or move it from that folder to your inbox. Also, make sure that someone sharing an email box with you didn't delete it for you. Unfortunately, we cannot resend the email coupon to you. But other offers will be heading your way -- so, stay tuned, and be sure not to delete your next offer until you use it.

I didn't receive the coupon I was expecting, yet I received other emails from The Newsletter Club, what's wrong?
Email is generally a very reliable communication tool, yet, although it isn't very common, there are situations that will cause it to fail. For example; if your email account was over quota, your email account would not accept any more email, or your Internet Service Provider might have had a computer server, used to communicate email, fail, or perhaps one of your SPAM filters or your internet service provider's SPAM filters rejects email that you really want to receive. It is possible that one of those situations occurred when we tried to send you your coupon. Be sure that your email account is always in working order and this should not happen again. Also, make sure that your SPAM filters are set to accept email from The Newsletter Club. If you suspect that SPAM filters are the culprit, please see the FAQ "I think my spam filter is blocking my email, what do I do to fix that?" for more information. Unfortunately, we cannot resend the email coupon to you, but you can expect to see more offers and information each month. So, keep your eyes peeled for the next offer.

SPAM Filters

I think my spam filter is blocking my email, what do I do to fix that?
Unfortunately, there isn't anything that we can do directly, but we can advise you on a few things you might want to try. When we send email to you, we make it a point to follow all of the rules related to sending email information to you as set forth by the federal CAN-SPAM law, which can be referenced at http://www.spamlaws.com/federal/108s877.html. The problem is that the filtering methods don't conform to this law. If they did, they wouldn't prove very effective, as the SPAMMERS would then have a very precise road map that could be used to circumvent the filters. So, regardless of the law, the battle between filters and SPAMMERS continues, and caught in the crossfire are consumers like you.

Currently, a filtering standard does not exist, so what we are about to cover here is provided in a general context. This is done so you can apply it to your specific filtering system. Whether you are using HOTMAIL, YAHOO, AOL, MSN, EARTHLINK, COMCAST CABLE, CHARTER CABLE, AT&T/ROAD RUNNER, MCI/WORLDCOM, or any other service provider not listed, this information can be applied. For a more specific understanding of how your service provider implements SPAM filtering, you will have to contact them. Most of them provide some sort of online reference to this information that you can quickly find from their home page or through their help systems.

While SPAM filtering rejects some of the junk and SPAM email that you don't want to see, it also rejects the email you want to receive. It's important to understand how your SPAM filtering really works if you are going to implement it, otherwise you could be missing important information, from senders like friends and family, or your favorite Newsletter Club. The following list describes the types of filtering that are commonly used. Some of which are controlled directly by you, and the others are directed by your service providers.

There are 4 basic types of email filtering techniques:

HOST/DOMAIN (blacklist/whitelist): Allow or disallow email from certain hosts and/or domains. Generally, this technique is implemented by your Internet Service Provider, but if you do have access to this type of filtering, be sure to include the "theemailclub.com" as a domain in your accepted list. If you don't have access to this filtering, be sure to contact your Internet Service Provider to verify that "theemailclub.com" is an accepted domain in their list.
CONTENT: Prevent email delivery based on the content (words and subject matter) of the email, specifically key words or phrases in key areas of the email, e.g., the subject line. Generally you need special software installed on your computer to support this type of filtering. Your software will most likely allow you to override this filtering from certain domains, refer to the HOST/DOMAIN item above to allow our emails through this filtering. Internet Service Providers, and email hosting service providers such as AOL, YAHOO, and MSN, also use this type of filtering. You will have to communicate to them directly to request them to allow your email through their filters.
FROM ADDRESS: Allow email from specific from email addresses. Generally, your system will have a dedicated email folder that allowed email is delivered to and another dedicated email folder that all unallowed email is delivered to. You must pick through the unallowed email folder and approve all email that you want delivered to the allowed email folder. If you have not received email from us, be sure to check your unallowed email folder. While you are checking your unallowed email folder, sort by the subject line, as the subject lines of the email we send to you are very similar, so you should be able to easily pick them out.
CHALLENGE RESPONSE: Require a response from the email sender to complete the email sending process. If you are using this type of a filter, you will most likely never receive an email from us. We recommend that you steer clear from this type of filtering, as it blocks every email that is sent to you. For example; the email from your bank about your overdrawn account would never reach you using this filter, as the bank doesn't have someone sitting in front of the computer waiting for your challenge response request just so they can answer it and you can receive your email.
If you have done all that you can with your filtering tool, and the problem still persists, then your problem is most likely being caused by your Internet Service Provider. We suggest that you work with them to solve the problem. If the problem still persists, then it is probably time to start shopping for a new provider.
More so, if you are have issues with our email that is a very good indication that you are have those same issues with other email that you want to receive as well. Good luck!

I use a pop-up blocker, will that cause any problems?
Your Newsletter Club system does use a few popup windows, and if you have popup blocker software installed, these windows will not appear. Fortunately, most popup blockers either provide a hotkey sequence, e.g., CTRL-P, that allows you to bypass the block on a particular popup window. We advise that you become familiar with how your popup blocker supports popup window overrides, so that you can implement them when your Newsletter Club system does not behave as expected. When you click on an Newsletter Club button, and the intended operation doesn't occur, click on the button again while implementing your popup blocker override.
