Hello Maplephiles,

I am almost caught up on all my Oscar movies so I have been getting sucked in by Westworld on HBO. Like most new TV shows, the premise is a bit crazy and the whole point is to hook you in for the next episode. The shows best character is played by Sir Anthony Hopkins who I love in almost everything he does. At age 80, he is the hardest working man in Hollywood with 4 movies and a hit TV show in the past year. I will always love his speech at the end of Meet Joe Black.

The little projectionist, on the other hand, is not hard working at age 10. First off, the kid has a problem sitting down for more than 15 minutes to do his homework. Even when he does it, it looks as if he threw up ink on paper. His teacher is either a saint or has been well trained in ten-year old hieroglyphs. Paradoxically, he has reached level 8 of Clash Royale on my phone. I am not sure of the real world skills he is building, but it is interesting.

There were no new movies to open this week so we are sticking with what we got. Except at The Riviera where we have Matt Damon in The Great Wall and Ice Cube in Fist Fight. I did go to the screening of Beauty and The Beast and I think it will play well at every theater including The Maple. Our next new movie is A United Kingdom which opens next week.

Secret Cinema: New Hollywood continues tonight with a 1970’s classic film presented by Hollywood producer Eddie Rubin. The film is rated R, in some ways reminds me of Westworld, and is a classic David and Goliath story. Eddie has his own page on IMDB which makes me jealous.

Now your moment of Zen
