Hello Maplephiles,

The only movie I’ve watched this week is Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. This was chosen by the Little Projectionist as he distinctly remembered a cool scene with giant ants. While all Indiana Jones movies are enjoyable, this one is more on the scale of Temple of Doom than Raiders of the Lost Ark or The Last Crusade.

Speaking of the Little Projectionist he was very friendly this morning. He claims he woke up on the right side of the bed. Like Indiana Jones, we have been looking for this mythical place for about five years, so it was nice to see him finally make this important discovery. We now are concentrating on him finding the laundry hamper.

This week at The Maple we are opening A United Kingdom. It looks like a good film and stars David Oyelowo and Rosamund Pike. This is an extraordinary story based on true events. We also will be getting the sing along version of La La Land next week after the Oscars.  I couldn’t wait, so I saw the movie again last night. I am not sure the other patrons were happy with my rendition of Another Day of Sun.

Secret Cinema will be great next week. First off, the film is a classic of the classics. I even saw somewhere where it is described as “flawless”. Nathan Koob will be our gracious host and I am confident it will be a great night. The film will be crystal clear on DCP even though it is from the 1940’s. I assume it is a pristine restored version from the original negative. In case you were not there last week, March will have three Secret Cinemas. We will only do this during the months that there are four Thursdays. The format for these three nights will be the “longer” classics. No speakers, just the movie.

Now your moment of Zen
