Hello Maplephiles,

I really enjoyed Silence of The Lambs the other night at Secret Cinema. Ken did a great job after the film loading the audience up with interesting facts. I did not remember that this was a Valentine’s Day release back in 1991. It was interesting to see now that the studio thought this was a “date” movie, but even more interesting was that the movie won Best Picture almost a year later. I don’t think a movie released in the first quarter will ever win a best picture Oscar again.

The Little Projectionist is having a tough end to his first quarter. He got punished last week from his iPad for being a bit of a jerk. Since he got the device back last Sunday, he has been an utter saint. The punishment was successful. Now I need to figure out a way to punish him for not eating fruits and vegetables. I’m thinking of having him eat ex-lax brownies. My brother did that to me as a kid and I have never eaten brownies since.

At The Maple this week, we are having a one week special engagement of a smaller film called Personal Shopper starring Kristen Stewart. I read on a website the following five reasons to see this movie:

  1. The film is very entertaining
  2. It is a genuinely frightening ghost story
  3. It is also quite funny
  4. It is touching and insightful
  5. Kristen Stewart’s performance is riveting

Is that enough for you? If not, you can go see Life at The Riviera. However, that looks even more frightening.

Remember Secret Cinema will continue next Thursday with a longer classic film from around the same time as Silence of The Lambs. This one is also rated R and is violent in an entirely different way. However, it will be this director’s debut at Secret Cinema. I can’t believe it took this long.

Now your moment of Zen
