Hello Maplephiles,

There’s a big fight going on in the movie world between Netflix and movie theaters. Netflix is now making their own movies because they learned the hard way that dealing with Hollywood studios is no picnic. Last night, on Netflix, I watched some of Adam Sandler’s new movie Sandy Wexler. This film was catered perfectly to the Netflix audience. When you pay $10 a month, a single film costs you under $1. This is exactly what people should pay to see Sandy Wexler. Poor Adam Sandler. If you watch Punch Drunk Love or Funny People, you will see he really is a great talent.

The Little Projectionist could be a great actor, but he is a terrible liar. He is punished from the computer, but does not understand this thing called “history” on our internet browsers. We left him alone for 10 minutes yesterday and he immediately went on my wife’s computer to watch YouTube. I hope he never learns about browser history so he just thinks we are the smartest people in the world.

Tommy’s Honor generated no interest from the golf community so we are going to get Their Finest a week early at The Maple. This is a great film and we have an exclusive for the next week. I mentioned Netflix above, but there is another internet company that is making movies: Amazon. However, they are making them for the big screen first before they offer them on the internet. They have a new movie called The Lost City of Z which is a terrific film. We did not have room at The Maple, so we squeezed it in at The Riviera. My wife really digs some Charlie Hunnam.

I will be at Secret Cinema tonight to help David Shaerf present his New Hollywood selection. First I need to throw my kids into Gifted because Secret Cinema is rated R and is very inappropriate for kids. Many of you have already guessed the film (which I am not sure is a good thing or bad thing). At least I can say the film has a great deal of notoriety.

Now your moment of Zen

Although her artist husband looks down on her job, Catrin's natural flair quickly gets her noticed by charming lead scriptwriter Buckley (Sam Claflin). Catrin and Buckley set out to make an epic feature film based on the Battle of Dunkirk starring pretentious fading movie star Ambrose Hilliard (Bill Nighy).
